First Annual Parent Prom Raises

Nearly $11,000 for

Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation

Hellertown PA (April 9, 2010)  More than 150 adults danced to music from the 1980s, bid on auction items and reminisced about their decades-old Prom memories at the First Annual Parent Prom, Friday April 9, 2010.  The $10,990.59 raised through ticket sales, silent auction items and a raffle will go into the general fund of the Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation.

The dinner dance, held at The Meadows in a creekside room filled with pink & green balloons, featured music by the band Nick of Time.  Guests donned cocktail attire with some men in tuxedos, some women donning vintage prom or bridesmaid gowns from the 70s and 80s and others donning wrist corsages in honor of the Prom theme.  Two dozen silent auction items, including original art by Connie Gilbert, a suite full of tickets for an Iron Pigs game and a limited edition Martin Guitar, helped raise funds for the students of Saucon Valley.  Many guests purchased numerous raffle tickets in hopes of winning a high-end Weber Grille donated by The Pelican Shops.

The Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation is committed to raising private funds to enable educators to provide creative and innovative learning experiences that are beyond the scope of the school budget.  Trustee donations fund the administrative costs of the Foundation enabling 100% of donations to go directly to curriculum-based projects which benefit students in grades K-12.

The Foundation has raised more than $100,000 to date and funded more than 40 projects for Saucon Valley students.  The Foundation is looking for new trustees and volunteers to join our efforts.  Please contact Susan Kennedy at suzntk@aol.com for more information.  Hope to see you at next year’s Parent Prom!
