Parent Prom Q&A
Q: Can I bring friends from outside the district?
A: Yes - everyone is invited and welcome!
Q: Why this fundraiser and why now?
A: We are a new foundation and want to invite EVERYONE to have fun and learn more about this group that provides money to academic-based innovative programs which benefit all students in the SVSD.
Q: What's the fundraiser for?
A: All money raised (above and beyond the cost of food/beverage) goes toward the Foundation's general fund. As always, trustees are underwriting all administration costs. e.g. the printing of the invitations, decorations.
Q: How much money do you hope to raise?
A: We're hoping to raise about 10-thousand dollars. But we need to sell out the 200 spots and get those silent auction items sold at a great price!
Q: What's in the silent auction?
A: An original Martin guitar (value $999), original oil painting by Connie Gilbert, signed cookbook by Emeril Lagasse, certificates for food, cooking classes, assorted wares and food from numerous Main Street Hellertown shops, and more!
Q: Isn't this like the PTO?
A: We operate independently from the school - but are recognized by same. We raise private funds independently, and the PTO could actually apply for a grant from us to provide a field trip which they are not able to fund from their own budget. The foundation joins the HS Theatre group, the PTO, the Alumni Association -- as a team of groups working together to further success of students in the district.
